What is PM Kisan Yojana?
PM Kisan is a scheme of the central government, which is 100% financed by the government of India. Under this, the installment amount is transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries. Under this scheme, an annual payment of Rs 6000 is made in three equal installments of Rs 2000 every four months in the bank account linked to the Aadhaar of the landholder farmer family (whose name is cultivable land).
Why is it necessary to do eKYC?
It is necessary to do eKYC so that the benefits of the scheme reach all the farmers across the country without the involvement of any middleman. This reduces the possibility of fraud.
Methods of eKYC
There are three methods of eKYC for the beneficiaries of PM Kisan Yojana-
OTP based e-KYC (available on PM-Kisan portal and mobile app)
Biometric based e-KYC available at Common service Center (CSC) and State service Center (SSK)
Face authentication-based e-KYC (available on PM Kisan mobile app) which is used by millions of farmers
