This has led to massive opposition. Notices have also been sent to the 83 illegal apartments which are being prepared to be demolished. The 83 apartments which have been declared illegal have about 800 flats in which families are living.
In such a situation, LDA's notice is a trouble for 800 families. Not only will their money be lost, but their home will also be snatched away. There has been collusion between LDA engineers and officers in the construction of these flats. LDA engineers allowed these to be built by taking a huge amount of bribe. About two months ago, 16 engineers were found accused in the case of illegal construction.
No compensation
A report was also sent to the government for action against them, but apart from the suspension of two engineers, no action has been taken against anyone else at the government level. The biggest problem is for the flat buyers who will not get any compensation and neither will they be given any place to live as displaced people. The apartments which LDA is going to demolish are built in different areas of the city. Their maps have not been approved by LDA.
The apartments for which demolition notice has been given are Nazmi raja Bazaar Rastogi (Tola Chowk), Nakhas behind abbas Prakash Cinema, Maruf Khan Balda Road gehna Garden Chowk, Bilkis Bano Chowk, Faiz ahmed Buniyad Bagh Sahadatganj, Anish and Jamshed Sheesh Mahal (Thakurganj), Noor Jahan Napier Road 2 Hardoi Road Thakurganj and Anees and Jamshed Sheesh Mahal (Sahadatganj).
