Gold Worth Rs 77 Lakh Smuggled, Customs Nabbed Them!
The Customs team arrested two indian passengers including a woman on charges of smuggling gold at Delhi's indira gandhi International Airport. 893 grams of gold was recovered from both of them. Both the air passengers had reached delhi after smuggling gold from Riyadh. The value of the recovered gold is estimated to be around Rs 77 lakh. The Customs officers, on suspicion, stopped the female passenger who had crossed the Green Channel for investigation on the basis of spot profiling. After that, the smuggling was revealed after investigation and interrogation.
According to the information received from the Customs officer, the air Intelligence Unit of the Customs suspected a female air passenger during spot profiling after flight number XY-46 from Riyadh landed at Terminal 3 in delhi on february 8. Without any suspicion, the officers stopped the woman for investigation at that time. The officers stopped the woman when she was crossing the Green Channel and heading towards the exit gate.
466 grams of gold recovered from hand mixer
Some suspicious images were seen in the X-ray machine examination of her luggage. After that, the customs team thoroughly searched the luggage of the female passenger, in which a hand mixer was found. On dismantling it, 466 grams of cut yellow metal was recovered, which was confirmed to be gold. The recovered metal was cleverly hidden inside the mixer. After this, the customs team seized the recovered gold and arrested the accused female passenger on charges of smuggling. The police is engaged in further investigation in this case.
Customs nabbed another passenger
In another similar case, the Customs AIU has arrested another indian air passenger, who arrived in delhi from Riyadh by flight number 6E-72, on charges of gold smuggling. He too had reached Delhi's IGI airport by hiding cut pieces of gold inside a hand mixer. After crossing the green channel, Customs recovered 427 grams of gold on the basis of spot profiling. After confiscating it, the customs team arrested him on charges of smuggling.
