The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature is going to start from Tuesday, february 18. Its notification has been issued. On february 20, Uttar Pradesh Finance minister Suresh Khanna will present the budget of the yogi government. It is believed that this time the government can give Rs 2.25 lakh crore for development works. Which will give more speed to the development works. This amount is about 22 thousand crores more than the budget given for development works in the current financial year.
The entire focus of the yogi adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is on the development works and infrastructure construction of the state, so this time it is estimated to allocate a good budget for development works in the budget. Under the medium term, fiscal restructuring policy, the Finance Department has forecast the budget for the years 2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28. In this, the size of the total budget for the financial year 2025-26 has been estimated at Rs 8.10 lakh crore.
Yogi government's emphasis on development works
This figure of the total budget is about Rs 74 thousand crore more than the original budget of the current financial year i.e. Rs 7.36 lakh crore. Last year in 2024-25, the UP government presented the original budget of Rs 7.36 lakh crore. After which the total budget of the current financial year after two supplementary budgets by the government had reached about 7.64 lakh.
According to the Finance Department, out of the total budget in 2025-26, the government will allocate Rs 5.85 lakh crore to revenue related expenses like salary, pension, interest and other items, while up to Rs 2.25 lakh crore has been estimated to be allocated under the head of capital expenditure for development related works. In this financial year 2025-26, while the government will spend Rs 8.10 lakh crore including revenue and capital expenditure, the total income of the government from all items is estimated to be Rs 8.06 lakh crore.
