Police Strict Action Against Those Drinking Alcohol In Public!

The police's strict stance continues against those drinking alcohol and creating ruckus in public places in Dehradun. On the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), the Doon police conducted a special campaign and detained 62 people and collected a total fine of ₹ 15,500 by challaning under the police Act. The purpose of this action is not only to maintain law and order in public places, but also to prevent road accidents and unpleasant incidents.

On 10 february 2025, dehradun police conducted a special campaign at various public places in Patelnagar police station area. This campaign was conducted at other major places including Kargi Chowk, ISBT Chowk, Muskan Chowk, Transport Nagar, Mandi Tiraha and Patelnagar Bazaar. At these places, the police team caught those drinking and serving alcohol on the roadside footpaths.

Police issued challans and collected a fine of Rs 15,000

Police identified a total of 62 people and brought them to patel Nagar police station in a vehicle. There they were questioned and strictly warned not to indulge in such activities in future. After this, a total fine of Rs 15,500 was collected from these people by issuing challans under the police Act. As per the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of police, this campaign against those drinking alcohol and creating ruckus in public places will continue. police officials say that this campaign is necessary to maintain law and order, prevent road accidents and maintain social harmony.

Drinking alcohol in public places is a legal offense

The police have also appealed to the general public that if they see anyone around them drinking alcohol in public places, then immediately inform the police. Such activities not only disturb social peace, but many times also lead to major crimes and accidents. Although drinking alcohol in public places is a legal offense, despite this many people violate the rules and drink alcohol openly. Such cases are especially seen more in public places such as squares, bus stands, market areas and footpaths.
