Gayatri Prajapati, who was a minister in the Samajwadi party government in Uttar Pradesh, has suffered a setback. The property of gayatri Prajapati's relative, who is currently in jail, has been confiscated. This information was given by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), lucknow Regional Office. According to the ED, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, the movable property of Anil Kumar Prajapati, son of gayatri Prasad Prajapati, has been provisionally attached. A statement said that this movable property of Rs 60 lakh deposited in the bank account of balaji Corporation Private Limited was the booking amount of a flat in Project "Vertu" in Wadala, mumbai by the builder M/s balaji Corporation Private Limited.
It was told that the ED started the investigation on the basis of the FIR registered by the UP Vigilance Establishment, lucknow against former UP Mining minister gayatri Prasad Prajapati for the act of acquiring disproportionate assets and committing criminal misconduct on the basis of the recommendation of the UP Lokayukta.
According to the statement, the ED investigation revealed that gayatri Prasad Prajapati, while holding the post of Mining minister of Uttar Pradesh, misused his official position and acquired assets disproportionate to his source of income in the name of his family members and other close associates/friends. It is alleged that gayatri Prasad Prajapati and his family members looted the illegal money earned during his tenure as minister in the Uttar Pradesh government through several fake and sham transactions through various entities and acquired several properties.
The statement said that he also used the bank accounts of his family members to deposit the illegal cash earned for his illegal benefit. Earlier, the ED had seized 71 immovable properties in the form of land/buildings and bank account deposits acquired in the name of gayatri Prajapati's family members, various legal entities, benami holders, relatives, employees and friends, worth a total of Rs 50.37 crore. ED had earlier conducted searches at 13 places in Uttar Pradesh, maharashtra and delhi in this case. Important evidence was found during the search, on the basis of which the property was confiscated. The total value of the properties confiscated so far is about Rs 50.97 crore. Further investigation is underway.
