

CVC orders probe into Delhi's 'Sheesh Mahal', bjp welcomes it!
BJP has welcomed the probe into alleged illegal construction and corruption in former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has ordered an inquiry into two complaints by bjp mla Vijender Gupta. The former leader of Opposition had complained to the CVC on october 14 and october 21, 2024. The complaints alleged blatant violation of building rules.
In the first complaint, Vijender Gupta had said that kejriwal had illegally expanded the official residence at 6, Flag Staff Road and merged government properties into private premises. The government properties included official residences of senior officials and judges, plot numbers 45 and 47 on Rajpur Road, and two bungalows (8-A and 8-B) located on Flag Staff Road. kejriwal demolished government properties and converted them into a 10-acre 'Sheesh Mahal'. The action was described as a complete violation of building rules and land use provisions.
Case of alleged corruption in government residence
The CVC filed a complaint on october 16, 2024 and sent it to the Central Public Works Department on november 5, 2024. The CPWD submitted a factual report of the investigation to the CVC on december 5, 2024. The report confirmed the violations. On february 13, 2025, the CVC ordered the CPWD to complete the investigation into the matter and take action against the culprits. Vijendra Gupta said that the tower construction was stopped after the alleged scam was exposed. The investigation will reveal the purpose of the tower construction and the source of the allocated funds.
The second complaint on october 21, 2024 exposed the decoration and wasteful expenditure done at Kejriwal's official residence. Gupta alleged that kejriwal spent crores of rupees to make the residence a royal palace. Shocking expenses were revealed in the complaint. The expenditure disclosed included a television worth Rs 77 lakh, silk carpets worth Rs 50 lakh, brass railings worth Rs 42 lakh, a spa centre worth Rs 20 lakh, a hot water generator worth Rs 18 lakh and toilet seats worth Rs 12 lakh.
