Indo-Myanmar border: New guidelines and QR code pass!

The situation changed after the military rule in Myanmar and many refugees came from Myanmar to take refuge in the northeastern states of India. In such a situation, the government of india has issued new guidelines, so that the movement on the border can be controlled. On december 6, 2023, the central government approved these guidelines. According to this, now people will be given QR code-equipped passes, which they will be able to use during their journey. This new guideline has been implemented especially in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that the people crossing the border are traveling legally and their records can be kept properly. These passes will be issued by assam Rifles, who will conduct security checks in the first phase. After this, the state police will be given the responsibility to conduct security checks at the place of stay of the people coming from Myanmar.

Role of assam Rifles and State Police

Assam Rifles has been given an important role in this arrangement. This force is responsible for the security of the Myanmar border as well as the indian border. Now the assam Rifles have been entrusted with the task of conducting the first stage security check of the people coming to the border and keeping their biometrics record. After this, this information will be uploaded on a central portal to ensure that the name of the person is not in the negative list. Under this process, only those people will be able to enter India who are not a security threat.

The state police, which is posted in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, will have the responsibility to conduct security checks at the places where Myanmar citizens are staying. Their job will be to ensure that there are no illegal activities in those areas and only those people are staying there who are allowed under the law.
