After the complaint of bjp spokesperson praveen Shankar Kapoor in delhi, the Municipal Corporation of delhi has postponed the Bal mela 2024-25 till further orders. In fact, bjp spokesperson praveen Shankar Kapoor wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of delhi (MCD) on monday (February 17) alleging that Mayor Mahesh Khinchi has misused the funds of Children's Day to organize Basant Utsav.
In a letter to MCD Commissioner ashwini Kumar, Kapoor said, "With the annual examinations approaching, Mayor Mahesh Khinchi organized Basant Utsav on 25 February, misusing the funds allocated for Bal Utsav."
Bal Utsav was not held last year
He further said that the MCD organizes Bal Utsav every year on november 14, but it was not organized in 2024. He said that this happened apparently because the then mayor did not show any interest due to power struggle over the post of mayor.
'Demands report on alleged misuse of funds'
praveen Shankar Kapoor also urged MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar to seek a report from the MCD's director of education regarding the alleged misuse of funds. However, there was no immediate response from the MCD and the aam aadmi party on Kapoor's allegation.
