BJP mla Arvinder Singh Lovely given big responsibility!
The first session of the eighth Legislative assembly of Delhi is going to start from 24 february 2025. The post of Speaker will fall vacant just before the session begins, while the post of Deputy Speaker has already fallen vacant. In such a situation, delhi Lieutenant governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has appointed senior mla Arvinder Singh Lovely as the acting speaker.
Senior party leader Vijendra Gupta had told on friday that Arvinder Lovely would be made the Protem Speaker. On Saturday, he was appointed Protem Speaker. Arvinder Singh Lovely will administer the oath to the MLAs in the assembly session starting from Monday (24 February). According to sources, the MLAs can be sworn in on 25 February.
Apart from this, Arvinder Singh Lovely has been given another important responsibility. All the newly elected members of the Legislative assembly will take oath in front of him. This process will be done under Section 12 of the government of National capital Territory Act, 1991.
Temporary appointment, new speaker will be there soon
Arvindar Singh Lovely will remain on this post till the delhi assembly elects its permanent speaker. Usually, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected in the initial days of the assembly session.
Majority will also be tested in the Assembly
This time the results of the delhi assembly elections have been quite interesting. It will be important for the party forming the government to be able to get the Speaker and Deputy Speaker elected easily. Proving majority in the assembly will not be a big challenge for the government.
