AAP's Atishi Marlena To End Up leader Of Opposition In The delhi Meeting
New Delhi: Former delhi chief minister Atishi was appointed as the leader of competition (LoP) in the delhi assembly on Sunday, marking an ancient first for the national capital.
AAP Names Atishi as LoP
The selection was made for the duration of a meeting of AAP MLAs, attended by party leader arvind kejriwal and the birthday celebration's 22 legislators. Announcing the appointment, AAP mla Gopal Rai said, "Inside the legislative birthday party meeting, it has been unanimously determined that Atishi could be the leader of competition inside the delhi assembly."
Atishi, the mla from Kalkaji, formerly succeeded kejriwal as Delhi's youngest chief minister in september 2024. Within the final AAP government, she held key portfolios, together with training, electricity, water, PWD, and services, as the best lady within the cabinet.
Historic political face-off
That is the primary time a girl will lead the opposition in the delhi assembly. Additionally, for the first time, a lady LoP will be up against a lady chief minister—BJP's rekha Gupta, who led her party to a decisive victory in the february five elections. The bjp secured forty-eight of the 70 assembly seats, ending AAP's decade-long rule.
Kejriwal and numerous pinnacle AAP leaders, such as manish Sisodia, additionally lost their seats in the elections.
