

Budget session of uttarakhand assembly ends!
The budget session of uttarakhand assembly lasted for 37 hours 49 minutes, which proved to be the longest session till date. On the fifth day, the budget of Rs 1,01,175.33 crore was passed by voice vote in the House. While the proposals for budget cuts in nine items presented by the opposition were rejected. On Saturday, the proceedings of the assembly began in the morning. Question hour was not held due to it being an effective day. Under the adjournment motion, the opposition raised important issues related to education, forest and road. Before the lunch break, various topics were discussed under Rule-58.
Proposal for budget cuts rejected
After the lunch break, Parliamentary Affairs minister Premchand Agarwal presented the budget proposals item-wise in the House. The opposition protested by calling the budget insufficient in nine items and put forward proposals for budget cuts. There was a detailed discussion on this in the house, in which the MLAs of the ruling party also gave their suggestions. Eventually, all the budget cut proposals were rejected and Uttarakhand's tax-free budget of Rs 1,01,175.33 crore was passed by voice vote. It included Rs 59,854.65 crore as revenue expenditure and Rs 41,220.68 crore as capital expenditure. This time the budget session was the longest in the history of the uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. The proceedings of the house lasted for 15 minutes on february 18, 9 hours 23 minutes on february 19, 9 hours 40 minutes on february 20, 11 hours 51 minutes on february 21 and 6 hours 40 minutes on february 22. Overall, the proceedings of the house lasted for 37 hours 49 minutes, which is a historical record.
On Friday, assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri bhushan conducted the proceedings of the house for 11 hours 51 minutes continuously, which was the longest proceedings ever in the uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Earlier, he had run the house for 11 hours and 20 minutes on february 28 last year. Earlier, on june 11, 2002, the then Speaker Yashpal arya had run the house for 11 hours and 11 minutes, on june 15, 2017, the then Speaker Premchand Agarwal had run the house for four hours and 40 minutes and Deputy Speaker Raghunath Singh Chauhan had run the house for six hours and 45 minutes.
