46 workers trapped in Chamoli avalanche rescued!

The massive avalanche that hit Chamoli, a border district of Uttarakhand, located on the India-China border, on friday (28 February) put the lives of many workers in danger. The accident took place near Mana, where workers engaged in construction work were caught in a snowstorm. The administration and rescue teams immediately started the relief operation. Rescue teams have so far evacuated 46 workers safely, while four workers have died. Five workers are still missing, for whose search the rescue operation is going on.

In view of the avalanche, the administration has put the Gauchar airstrip on alert mode. police, health department, fire brigade and other teams are deployed there for rescue and relief work. SDM santosh kumar Pandey himself is monitoring the relief operation.

ITBP-SDRF rescue operation continues

Teams of indian army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Indo-Tibetan Border police (ITBP) are continuously engaged in relief and rescue work. Due to bad weather and possibility of heavy snowfall in Chamoli district, rescue operations are facing challenges. Despite bad weather, the soldiers are engaged in relief work with full alertness. Lieutenant Colonel manish Srivastava of PRO Defense, dehradun said that so far the bodies of four workers have been recovered. The rescue team is engaged in the search for five other missing workers.

IMD issued alert

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in the state within the next 24 hours. The threat of avalanche still persists in Chamoli district, which is causing problems in rescue operations. Meanwhile, the administration has appealed to the people to stay in safe places and advised to avoid going to high altitude areas. According to preliminary information, avalanche occurred due to heavy snowfall in the high altitude area near Mana, in which workers engaged in construction work came under its grip. The administration has ordered an investigation into the incident. This accident has spread panic in the area and the families of the workers are praying for the safety of their loved ones.
