

48 workers rescued in Chamoli avalanche accident!
Relief and rescue operations are continuing to save the workers trapped in the massive avalanche that occurred in Mana in Chamoli district of uttarakhand on Friday. So far 48 workers have been rescued safely, while the search for 7 workers is still on. The rescue operation was intensified since saturday morning, in which nine more workers have been rescued safely so far.
Relief operations have been expedited as soon as the weather cleared in Chamoli. Teams of indian Army, ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) are engaged in searching for workers buried in snow. Another injured laborer buried in snow has been brought to Jyotirmath, where he is being treated. In view of the avalanche, an alert has been issued from SDRF headquarters, Jolly Grant and high altitude rescue teams have been specially deployed.
Rescue team on high alert at three altitudes
Three high altitude rescue teams have been deployed at Jolly Grant, Sahasradhara and Gochar. As soon as the weather cleared a bit, the teams flew with relief and rescue equipment via helicopter.
- Two teams of 8-8 people have been deployed in Gochar and Sahasradhara.
- A battalion of 10 people is deployed at Jolly Grant headquarters.
- Dhalwala team has been kept on alert in case the injured need to be taken to AIIMS Rishikesh.
The teams have been equipped with satellite phones and equipment required for relief work in the snow, so that any emergency can be dealt with.
PM Modi took information from cm Dhami
Prime minister Narendra Modi spoke to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone and took information about relief and rescue operations. PM Modi has given instructions to ensure the safety of all the affected people and quick rescue operations. At the same time, chief minister Dhami is also constantly monitoring the situation and giving necessary instructions to the officials. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in many districts of uttarakhand even today. The danger of avalanche still persists in Chamoli district. The local administration has advised people living in high altitude areas to remain alert.
