Ban on unseasonal paddy cultivation in uttarakhand lifted!
In the plain districts of uttarakhand, there has been a huge drop in the water level due to unseasonal paddy cultivation for the last several years. Concerned about the falling water level, the state government and administration had been appealing to the farmers for a long time not to cultivate unseasonal paddy. But the area of unseasonal paddy cultivation was increasing year after year, after which the administration banned unseasonal paddy, at many places the saplings being prepared for unseasonal paddy cultivation were also destroyed.
Former cabinet Minister and Gadarpur mla Arvind Pandey raised this issue in the assembly and demanded exemption to farmers this year. cm Pushkar Singh Dhami lifted the ban on unseasonal paddy cultivation this year and has appealed to the farmers to plant maize crop instead of unseasonal paddy from next year.
In Udham Singh nagar district, off-season paddy cultivation was expanding rapidly for the last several years, due to which a huge drop in water level has been recorded. In view of the falling water level, the administration was appealing to the farmers from time to time not to plant off-season paddy crop, yet paddy cultivation was not decreasing.
Ban was imposed on off-season paddy cultivation
At the time of paddy harvesting in october and November, the administration had held a meeting with the farmers and announced a ban on off-season paddy cultivation, and also said that farmers who have more moisture in their fields can do farming after taking permission. At many places, farmers were preparing saplings for off-season paddy cultivation without permission, after getting information about this, those saplings were destroyed by the administration. This issue was raised by Gadarpur mla Arvind Pandey in the assembly during the budget session, after which the government has given exemption to the farmers for off-season paddy cultivation this year.
