

Every foreign employee including indians will get salary in lakhs!
Some big changes are going to happen for foreign employees in New Zealand. These new rules, which will come into effect from march 10, 2025, include many important changes related to visa, salary threshold, work experience and visa time. These changes will affect not only foreign employees, but also the employers who employ them. So let's understand what is changing.
Change in salary threshold
From march 10, 2025, migrant workers working under Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and Specific Purpose Work Visa (SPWV) will no longer be given median salary, but New Zealand's minimum wage. Currently, New Zealand's minimum wage is NZ$23.15 per hour. In indian rupees, it will be Rs 1,146.93. But from april 1, 2024, it will be increased to NZ$23.50 per hour. Apart from this, the threshold of annual income will also increase. From march 10, 2025, it will increase from NZ$43,322.76 to NZ$55,844. In indian rupees, it will be around Rs 27 lakh 66 thousand 278. This threshold will be updated every year based on the median wage.
Work experience time reduced
Till now, 3 years of work experience was required for foreign employees, but from march 10, 2025, it will be reduced to 2 years. However, employees will have to prove that they have 2 years of experience and employers will also have to confirm it.
Visa time increased
The visa time will be increased to 3 years for employees working under ANZSCO Skill Level 4 and 5. This time will reflect the total time they will be in New Zealand.
New rules for partner and parent visas
From 28 february 2025, AEWV holders will have to meet the salary threshold of NZ$26.85 per hour to support their partner. At the same time, the income threshold for sponsorship under the parent category will be set based on the new median wage of NZ$33.56 per hour.
