Today's hearing in the allahabad high court on the case related to the demand for painting of the controversial Shahi Jama Masjid of sambhal was over. The high court gave time to ASI to file an objection. In this case, the Archaeological survey of india will have to file a third supplementary affidavit. ASI has to tell whether painting is needed in the outer premises or not. The hearing in this case will be held on Wednesday, march 12 at 10:00 am.
It is worth noting that the Jama Masjid Committee had filed an objection to the ASI report in the last hearing. On the basis of the ASI report, the high court did not allow painting. It was said in the ASI report that painting is not needed right now. On the basis of the ASI report, the high court had ordered only the cleaning of the Jama Masjid. The case was heard in a single bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal.
Permission was sought for painting and whitewashing in the mosque
The mosque committee had filed a petition seeking permission for painting, repair and lighting work in the Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal. It has also been said from the Hindu side that repair and whitewashing can damage the structure. The holy month of ramzan has started from march 2. However, the mosque committee had sought permission for painting before the start of Ramzan.
The court had approved the demand for cleanliness so that the fasting people do not face any problem during the month of Ramzan. The mosque committee had earlier written a letter to the DM of sambhal and sought permission from ASI for painting and whitewashing. ASI did not give permission to the mosque committee in this matter. After this, a petition was filed in the allahabad high court seeking permission for painting and whitewashing.
