A grand event was organized in a university in delhi on monday keeping in mind international Women's Day. delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta attended the event as the chief guest. He emphasized on the achievements of women, their rights and their important role in society. He said that women empowerment is not just a slogan, but a collective responsibility of all of us.
The country cannot progress without the participation of women
Vijender Gupta said in his address that no country can progress unless women actively participate in it. Describing women as the backbone of society, he said that if india has to be made economically and socially strong, then gender equality has to be ensured. Referring to the theme of this year's international Women's Day "Accelerate Action", he said that we have to take concrete steps at a fast pace to increase women's safety, education, employment and leadership opportunities.

Vijendra Gupta said that indian women are now proving their talent in every field. They are no longer limited to traditional roles, but are setting new records in fields like education, science, sports, business, politics and defense.

• India's sex ratio was 918 in 2014, which increased to 933 in 2022.
• The participation of women workers in the country was 23% in 2017-18, which increased to 42% in 2023-24.
• The number of women officers in the indian Armed Forces has increased 3.5 times since 2015.
• 48% of the country's startups have at least one woman director.
• 50% of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) graduates in india are women, the highest in the world.
