Rupee Symbol: What did the IIT professor who designed the rupee symbol say on the decision of the stalin government?
Rupee Symbol: The tamil Nadu government removed '₹' from its budget logo and replaced it with tamil letters. This move of the stalin government is being seen as a protest against the three-language formula of the Centre's National education Policy.
Rupee Symbol
The dispute between tamil Nadu and the Centre over the three-language formula of the National education Policy grew so much that the DMK government removed the Devanagari symbol of Rupee '₹' from its logo for the budget and used the tamil letter 'ரூ'. However, the funny thing is that the symbol they removed was designed by a person from tamil Nadu. What is even more important is that that person himself belongs to the DMK party.
D. uday Kumar, currently a professor at IIT Guwahati, designed the rupee symbol. His father has been a former DMK mla in tamil Nadu. Now when Uday Kumar was asked for his opinion on this decision of the stalin government, he kept himself completely away from this controversy and made his point.
'It depends on the state government'
Uday Kumar said in a conversation with PTI, 'I do not react to this. If the government feels that a change is needed and they want to replace it with the letter of their script, then they can do it. It depends on the state government. I have nothing to say about this.' He also said that it is just a coincidence that someone associated with tamil Nadu and DMK designed it.
The symbol of Rupee was adopted in 2010
This symbol of Rupee was officially adopted by the government of india on 15th July 2010. The Government of India had organized a competition in which uday Kumar's design was considered the best. After this, it was adopted as the new symbol of Rupee.
Uday Kumar is a postgraduate from IIT Bombay
