Inflation is at its peak in this state of the country!
The retail inflation rate of the country may have declined, but the data of the National Statistical office (NSO) has revealed a shocking thing. One of their data has revealed that in the month of February, inflation was the highest in kerala, while inflation was the lowest in Telangana. This shows that price pressure is still there in some big states.
This was the inflation rate in these states
In February, kerala had the highest inflation of 7.3 percent, followed by chhattisgarh in second place with 4.9 percent. Similarly, the inflation rate in karnataka was 4.5 percent, bihar 4.5 percent and kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir 4.3 percent. Retail inflation in telangana was the lowest at 1.3 percent. After that delhi is in second and third place with 1.5 percent and andhra pradesh with 2.4 percent respectively. The data shows that out of 22 states, 13 states had inflation rate less than the Reserve bank of India's target of 4 percent.
Hopes of RBI reducing interest rate increased
Data released by NSO on wednesday shows that the retail inflation rate measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell from 4.3 percent in january to 3.6 percent in February, which is the lowest in the last seven months. This is due to the fall in the prices of food items. This has increased the hopes of the Reserve bank reducing the interest rate in the month of April.
Inflation is higher in villages than in cities
According to the Times of india report, SBI's Group Chief Economic Advisor Soumya Kanti Ghosh said, "If we look at the inflation rates state-wise, then inflation in the big states has been higher than the average in February." He said that there are 12 states where inflation in rural areas has been higher than the average in rural areas of the whole of India. The situation in the cities of these states is also similar. He also said that inflation in villages is higher than in cities. The reason behind this is the increased prices of food items.
