Is other schemes in maharashtra in trouble due to Ladki Bahin?

The maharashtra government has implemented the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana' in the state for women empowerment. But now the issue of cutting the budget of other welfare schemes due to this scheme is in discussion. Shiv Sena's Social Justice minister Sanjay Shirsat has expressed concern over this and has demanded a clarification from the government on this matter. According to the Times of India, according to minister Sanjay Shirsat, Rs 7,000 crore has been removed from the Social Justice Department and Rs 3,000 crore from the Tribal Development Department for this scheme. A total budget of Rs 10,000 crore has been taken from other schemes.

government claims - SC/ST budget increased by 40-42 percent

Although the government claims that the budget for Scheduled Castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) has been increased by 40-42 percent, despite this, the budget of Social Justice, Tribal Development and Bahujan Welfare departments has decreased. This has directly affected many schemes, due to which the needy sections may face difficulties.

What does the government say?

A senior official said that funds have been taken from the Social Justice and Tribal Development departments for the 'Ladki Behan Yojana'. However, the official says that SC/ST women will also get benefits under this scheme. The government argues that this scheme has been made for the empowerment of women and it will help the weaker sections of the society. But, the opposition says that this decision may give a setback to those schemes, which were already helping the weaker sections.

At the same time, the opposition says that helping needy women is necessary, but it is not right to cut the budget of other welfare schemes for this. They are demanding clarification from the government as to from which departments the funds were withdrawn and which schemes will be affected by this.

congress and ncp (SP) leaders say that the government should ensure that no social scheme is harmed. Many organizations have also appealed to the government to reconsider this decision. Now it remains to be seen what stand the government takes on this issue and whether any amendment is made in it.
