Supriya Sule said- 'This is the infamous law of british rule...'

The opposition is strongly opposing the 'Maharashtra Special Public Security Act Bill' proposed by the devendra fadnavis government. NCP-SP mp supriya sule has directly questioned the government regarding this law, 'Is police rule necessary in the state?'

What is this new bill?

Under the maharashtra Special Public Security Act Bill, the government can get the right to take action against any person, organization or institution on the basis of 'illegal acts'. The opposition alleges that this definition is not clear at all and it can be used to suppress anti-government voices.

This bill is against the basic principles - supriya Sule

supriya sule and other opposition leaders say that this bill is against the basic principles of democracy. They allege that the government can make it a weapon against those people and organizations who criticize the government in peaceful and democratic ways. They believe that this bill is reminiscent of the infamous Rowlatt Act of the british rule. In 1919, the british government acquired the power to arrest any indian without trial under this law. Now the opposition alleges that the maharashtra government is also weakening the fundamental rights in the same way.

government responded

At the same time, the government says that this bill has been brought only to prevent the security of the state and illegal activities. The government claims that this will control crimes and maintain peace in the state.

What will happen next?

The debate on this bill is still going on. The opposition is demanding a review of it on the basis of the Constitution. It remains to be seen what stand the government takes on this and whether any changes will be made in it.
