'Panthic' Sabha angry with the appointment of new Jathedars!
The ongoing controversy over the appointment of new Jathedars by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in punjab is not taking the name of stopping. On friday, a 'Panthic' Samagam was called under the leadership of baba Harnam Singh, head of Sri Anandpur Sahib Damdami Taksal, Punjab. The Panthic Samagam rejected the appointment of new Jathedars by the SGPC. Also, demanded from the SGPC to reinstate the old Jathedars. On friday (March 14), the 'Panthic' Sabha passed 6 resolutions. In these, the Executive Committee of the SGPC has been called upon to respect the sentiments of the Sikh Panth. An appeal has also been made to the SGPC to reinstate Giani Raghbir Singh, Giani sultan Singh and Giani Harpreet Singh to the post of Jathedar.
Panthik Sabha appeals to make rules
Apart from this, the Sikh community has been appealed to boycott the members of the SGPC Executive Committee. The Panthik Sabha has praised the three SGPC executive members who opposed the decision to remove the Jathedars. In its resolution, it has appealed to the SGPC to make rules for the appointment and removal of Jathedars with the approval of Sikh intellectuals. The resolution of the Panthik Sabha also states that if the SGPC does not withdraw its decision to remove the 'Jathedars', then Sikhs from all over punjab will march to amritsar on march 28. A meeting of the SGPC's general assembly is also proposed on the same day.
What is the whole matter?
In fact, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has recently removed Giani Raghbir Singh from the post of Jathedar of Akal Takht. The SGPC says that Giani Raghbir Singh's leadership is not capable of guiding the Panth (Sikh community). His inconsistent approach has weakened the Panthic unity. Giani sultan Singh was also removed by the SGPC from the post of 'Jathedar' of Takht Kesgarh Sahib, one of the five Sikh religious Peethas in Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar district.
