CM bhagwant mann targeted bjp, said- 'Center on pretext of delimitation...'
punjab chief minister bhagwant mann on saturday (March 15) accused the Center of trying to eliminate political opponents through electoral delimitation of parliamentary constituencies. He said that all like-minded parties will join hands against this attempt to crush democracy. In fact, a controversy has arisen on this issue after an all-party meeting held in tamil Nadu to oppose the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies on the basis of population.
Now in response to a question on delimitation, punjab cm bhagwant mann has made serious allegations against the BJP-led central government. He has said that the Center's intention regarding delimitation is not right. He alleged that strategically the (parliamentary) seats of those states are being reduced where the bjp and its allies are weak. While the seats of those states are being increased where the divisive agenda of the bjp is flourishing.
Opposition parties will join hands against the Center
The punjab chief minister said here that all like-minded parties will join hands against this repression of the central government to crush democracy. Mann said that AAP has spoken to tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin. Talked to stalin on this matter. Two of his ministers are coming to meet us. We are trying to find out how many seats they want to increase and in which areas. We have deployed our officers on this and we will know how many seats will increase or decrease in Punjab.
Congress leaders have also expressed concern
Before punjab cm Mann, tamil Nadu cm MK stalin had earlier proposed that the 1971 census should be the basis for delimitation of parliamentary constituencies for 30 years starting from 2026. Recently, punjab Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa expressed serious concern over the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies to be held in 2026 and called upon the leaders of all political parties of the state to discuss its pros and cons and jointly oppose it strongly if needed. Pratap Singh Bajwa had said that since we are from punjab, the leaders of all political parties of punjab should come on one platform and think what can we do about this?
