How many seats can Mahayuti win in Legislative Council by-election?
By-elections are to be held on march 27 for five seats of the Legislative Council in Maharashtra. All these seats were with the Mahayuti, but now re-election has to be held after the Legislative Councilors are elected to the Legislative Assembly. For this, the constituent parties of the Mahayuti are announcing the names of the candidates. bjp has announced the names of three candidates on Sunday.
The bjp candidates include a close aide of cm devendra fadnavis and a former MLA. bjp on sunday announced the names of former nagpur mayor and Fadnavis's close aide sandeep Diwakar Rao Joshi, state bjp unit general secretary Sanjay Kishanrao Kenekar and former mla Dadarao Yadavrao Keche for the Legislative Council by-election.
Keche had won the 2009 and 2019 assembly elections from Arvi constituency of wardha district in Vidarbha region. He was not given a ticket for the 2024 elections and the bjp fielded sumit Wankhede, former personal secretary of fadnavis, from the Arvi seat.
Will the Mahayuti win easily?
By-elections are to be held on these seats due to the victory of five Legislative Councilors in the november 2024 assembly elections. Of these, bjp candidates were elected on three seats and shiv sena and ncp candidates on one seat each. bjp has 132, shiv sena has 57 and ncp has 41 MLAs. Given their impressive presence in the lower house, they can easily win all five seats.
