MCD took this big decision regarding toll in Delhi!

The Municipal Corporation of delhi (MCD) has started the process of hiring new agencies to collect toll tax at all 156 entry points of the national capital. Under this scheme, the MCD has asked the bidding agencies to apply. Along with this, the MCD has also issued the necessary online technical and financial proposal. According to the TOI report, the delhi Municipal Corporation has asked the interested agencies to apply for upgrading and modifying the toll plaza barriers in addition to collecting toll tax from commercial vehicles through the proposal. The last date for submission of proposals is march 24.

Agencies will also collect environmental compensation fee

In the e-tender notice issued by the MCD recently, it has been said that the authorized agencies will also collect environmental compensation fee from the vehicles. The fee will be deposited on a weekly basis. The notice states that the collection will be done through RFID at 13 toll points, handheld devices at 111 toll plazas and manually or by other methods at the remaining places.

Target to collect 1000 crores from toll tax

MCD's new proposal was approved by the house in February. The MCD has set a target to generate a minimum annual revenue of Rs 900 crore from the toll tax collector as compared to Rs 864 crore earned so far. By september 2024, the MCD collected Rs 786.6 crore, but considering it a major source of revenue, the Municipal Corporation has set a new target of Rs 950-1000 crore. To make more and more bidders participate in it, the MCD has removed the condition of bidders having experience of running a minimum of 122 lanes.

MCD is charging the fee fixed in 2007            

According to the MCD officer, the MCD is currently charging the toll fee fixed by the delhi government in 2007. The official said, "The fee for taxis is Rs 100 per trip or Rs 3,000 per month. The fee for commercial trucks is higher.
