Rohingyas have become a headache for Bangladesh...?
Advisor to the interim government of bangladesh Mohammad Yunus gave a statement about Rohingya. Regarding the plight of the Rohingya people, he claimed that these people are victims of racial discrimination. On international Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on friday (21 march 2025), Mohammad Yunus said that since 2017, bangladesh has given shelter to more than 1 million forcibly displaced people, but their return to Myanmar is the only permanent solution to this problem.
Bangladesh engaged in sending Rohingya back
According to the Dhaka Tribune report, Mohammad Yunus called upon the countries of the world to actively participate in sending Rohingya back to their own country Myanmar. He also said that this process should be ensured as soon as possible. He expressed commitment to fight racism, racial discrimination, hatred towards a country and all types of intolerance related to it. This year is the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the international Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).
UN gives a shock to Bangladesh
Bangladesh is currently troubled by the expenditure on Rohingya. The United Nations will reduce the food fund for Rohingya refugees in bangladesh from $ 12.50 to $ 6 per month next month. This is being done because the UN is not getting funds. By doing this, the threat of starvation has started looming in the world's largest refugee settlement (Rohingya).
According to the report of news agency Reuters, the World Food Program (WFP) said that it was trying to raise money to keep the price of ration at $ 12.50 per month, but it could not get funding from many countries of the world. After this, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited the Rohingya refugee camps in bangladesh on 13 march 2025.
