Is there a different punishment for killing by strangulation? 

A heart-wrenching incident came to light from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, yesterday. Here a woman killed her husband with the help of her lover to marry her ex-boyfriend. After this, she cut the body into pieces and closed it in a drum by pouring cement. The police have arrested the woman and her lover. Both will be punished in this case. Punishment for killing by strangulation

If the murder is done by strangulation, then in this case, according to Section 302 of the indian Penal Code under indian law, there is a provision of either death penalty or life imprisonment along with fine as punishment. The court has its discretion to decide which punishment is appropriate in any specific case, given the circumstances of the crime and the criminal.

If someone tries to kill someone by strangulation but is unsuccessful, the punishment under section 307 of the IPC is imprisonment. This imprisonment can be extended up to ten years and can also include a fine.

Punishment for dismembering a body

The punishment for trying to dismember a body can range from life imprisonment to a fine. But this depends on the manner in which the incident is committed. If the body is dismembered after the murder, then the punishment can be death penalty or life imprisonment. Even if someone other than the murderer dismembers the body to destroy evidence, the court takes action according to the circumstances. In some cultures, dismembering a body after death is considered disrespectful. Therefore, in this case, it is considered a crime and the culprit gets severe punishment.
