Lawyers will be on indefinite strike, know why?

The supreme court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of india (CJI) sanjeev Khanna on monday recommended the Center to send Justice Yashwant Verma back to allahabad High Court. Soon after this, the lawyers of allahabad high court decided to go on indefinite strike.

Let us tell you that Justice Verma, the second most senior judge of delhi high court, is embroiled in a controversy over a large pile of burnt cash allegedly found in the storeroom attached to his bungalow in the national capital.

On march 14, when the fire brigade went there to extinguish the fire, a large amount of cash was found. After this incident, which created a stir in the judicial corridors, Chief Justice Khanna on friday constituted a three-member committee to investigate the matter and asked the Chief Justice of delhi high court not to assign any judicial work to Justice Verma for the time being.

Earlier, Chief Justice of delhi high court D.K. Upadhyay had withdrawn judicial work from Justice Verma till further orders. A notice uploaded on the delhi high court website said, "In view of recent developments, judicial work has been withdrawn from Hon'ble Justice Yashwant Verma with immediate effect till further orders." Another notice issued by the delhi high court Registrar (Listing) said, "Hon'ble court Master of DB-III will give dates in the case listed before Hon'ble DB-III today." A statement uploaded on the supreme court website on monday said, "The supreme court Collegium in its meetings held on 20th and 24th march has recommended the repatriation of Justice Yashwant Verma, Judge, delhi high court to allahabad High Court."
