Minister Sirsa's statement on CAG report related to DTC...
The delhi government is continuously presenting CAG reports in the House, due to which the political atmosphere is getting heated. New revelations are being made in every report. The latest CAG report is related to delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), in which many irregularities have been revealed. Regarding this, delhi government's cabinet minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa targeted the previous government and Arvind Kejriwal. According to the CAG report, thousands of crores of rupees are due on bus depots and parking contractors in Delhi. Money was collected from contractors illegally and no record of it was kept. Not only this, the delhi government is paying about 8,000 crores every year only as interest.
Encouraged corruption on a large scale
minister Sirsa said, "There will be a thorough investigation of this matter and action will also be taken against the culprits. The money of the people of delhi has been misused, this will not be tolerated." He also alleged that the kejriwal government promoted corruption on a large scale in the DTC.
'If Atishi speaks the truth, she will lose her position'
minister Sirsa also took a dig at delhi government minister Atishi. He said, "Atishi's helplessness is clearly visible. If she speaks the truth, she will lose her position. That is why she is keeping quiet."
Delhi's budget is historic: Sirsa
The delhi government recently presented the budget, which is also being politicized. minister Sirsa called it historic and said, "We have presented a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore in a month. Now think, what will happen in 12 months?" Taking a dig at the opposition, he said, "If the opposition praises the budget, they will lose their jobs. That is why they are opposing it."
Background: Corruption allegations in DTC have been made earlier too
This is not the first time that corruption allegations have been made in the delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Questions have been raised several times in the past regarding the purchase and maintenance of DTC buses. The opposition has alleged that transparency was not maintained in bus purchases and rules were broken to benefit contractors. After the revelations in the CAG report, it remains to be seen what action the delhi government takes in this matter.
