Seeing the lack of cleaning of the drain, cm Rekha Gupta took action! 

During the inspection of Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency by the chief minister regarding the cleanliness system in the capital delhi, huge negligence came to light in Pitampura block. In the inspection, it was found that the drains less than four feet deep were not cleaned and de-silted properly. Taking this negligence seriously, strict action has been taken against the responsible officers of the Municipal Corporation.

The chief minister found the Sanitary Inspector of Municipal Corporation (MCD) guilty of not discharging his responsibility properly and failing to maintain the cleanliness system. The Sanitary Inspector of Ward No. 57 of Pitampura Block has been suspended with immediate effect on charges of negligence in duty and misconduct.

Many officers were reprimanded, transferred

The Sanitary Inspector of DEMS, Keshav Puram Zone has been suspended.

The Sanitary Inspector (SI) and Assistant Sanitary Inspector (ASI) of Ward 55 have also been transferred.

The Resident Senior Cleaner (RSK) of Pitampura Ward No. 57 has also been removed from his post.

All the transferred officers have been instructed to report immediately for their new posting.

Questions raised again on the cleanliness system of the Municipal Corporation

Questions have been raised many times before regarding the cleanliness system in Delhi. This inspection done by the chief minister has again raised serious questions on the functioning of the Municipal Corporation. The public has often complained about the indifference of the Municipal Corporation regarding cleanliness and garbage management in Delhi. The lack of proper cleaning of drains in Pitampura area is promoting mosquitoes and diseases. Dirt and waterlogging increase the risk of dengue, malaria and other diseases. The problem of waterlogging and dirt arises every year in delhi during the rainy season, but the Municipal Corporation fails to fix the cleanliness system in time.
