Modi government gave a big gift to the employees!
Even before the start of the financial year, the Modi government has taken a big decision regarding government employees. On Friday, the central government has decided to increase the dearness allowance by 2 percent. That is, now DA has increased from 53 percent to 55 percent, which will increase the salary of lakhs of employees.
What is DA and why is it given?
Dearness Allowance (DA) i.e. dearness allowance is given to government employees to reduce the impact of inflation. Actually, the basic salary is decided by the pay commission every 10 years, but DA changes every 6 months, so that the impact of inflation is reduced. Last time in July 2024, DA was increased from 50 percent to 53 percent.
When and how does DA increase?
The government increases DA twice a year, in january and July. Although the announcement may be late, DA is calculated on the basis of AICPI-IW (inflation data) of january and December. Let us tell you, the cabinet decision applies only to central government employees. Although later the state governments usually follow the Center, but they can also increase DA at a different time or at a different rate.
What is AICPI-IW Index?
This is the scale of inflation, on the basis of which DA is decided. It is issued by the Labor Bureau under the Ministry of Labor.
How much money will increase with DA Hike?
If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 50,000, then on the basis of earlier (53 percent DA), he used to get DA of Rs 26,500. But now after the increase of 2 percent, DA has become (55 percent). Now, with this, DA will be available for Rs 27,500. That is, a benefit of Rs 1,000 per month.
