Played a big role in catching Ajmal Kasab
On the night of 26 november 2008, when 10 terrorists created terror in mumbai, Tukaram Omble played an important role in catching Ajmal Kasab. Tukaram Omble started his career in the army. After retirement in 1991, he joined the mumbai Police.
On the night of 26 november 2008, he and his team were present at the checkpoint when they saw two terrorists coming in a vehicle. In the initial firing, one terrorist was killed in the car itself while the other, Ajmal Kasab, started coming out of the vehicle. Tukaram Omble moved forward to catch him when he did not have any weapon. Kasab came out of the car and opened fire.
Tukaram showed amazing courage to save his comrades
Tukaram stood in front of Kasab and held the barrel of his rifle so that no one else would get shot. He was martyred in this incident. However, Tukaram's team caught Kasab. Tukaram Omble was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for helping capture Kasab alive.
