Will TikTok be banned from april 5? 

TikTok is going to be banned in America. US President donald trump has said that an agreement can be reached with Chinese company ByteDance regarding the sale of TikTok before april 5. According to Reuters, trump said on Sunday, "We have many buyers who are very interested in TikTok and I want this platform to continue."

Status of ban on TikTok                                

Under a law that came into force in january 2024, the trump administration had given TikTok time till april 5 to sell it to an American company or else it would be banned for national security reasons. According to reports, 17 crore people are using TikTok in America. Earlier trump had also indicated that if the deal is not completed on time, the deadline could be extended.

Will TikTok be banned after april 5?                              

According to the information, if ByteDance does not sell its US business by april 5, TikTok will be banned as per the existing federal law. However, trump had said that if the sale does not happen on time, he can extend the deadline for another 90 days.

On january 19, TikTok was banned due to concerns of being linked to China. But trump had given it 75 days so that an American buyer could buy it. trump said, "Earlier I did not think much about TikTok but when I used it and found support from young people, I started liking it a bit." Now it will be interesting to see whether TikTok will remain in the US market or it will be banned completely. However, trump still wants TikTok to remain in the market. That is why trump had earlier extended the time for American buyers by 75 days.
