EOW will solve the mystery of Rs 1100 crore in River scam…

Mithi River, which is an important water stream of mumbai, has been a part of cleaning and redevelopment projects for a long time. However, a large-scale scam is suspected in this cleaning campaign. The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of mumbai Police has intensified the investigation into the alleged Rs 1100 crore scam in the case of removing garbage from Mithi River. In this case, the EOW has sought all the videos and photos from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which were recorded during the cleaning process.

BMC application is being investigated

According to sources, BMC had a special application on which videos and photos of garbage removal and putting it in the dumper were uploaded during cleaning. EOW has now also sought access to this application to find out whether the garbage was actually removed by the contractors or just paperwork was done.

A senior EOW official said that BMC has been instructed to submit this data as soon as possible. The main purpose of the investigation is to verify whether the contractors removed the correct amount of garbage or irregularities were committed in it.

Suspicion of irregularities in garbage removal

The officials suspect that many contractors sent the vehicles empty without loading the garbage. Not only this, EOW has not yet found any video footage of the place where the garbage was dumped in Mithi river. The investigating officers are now matching the amount of debris removed.

10 contractors questioned so far

EOW has so far recorded the statements of 10 contractors and several BMC officials in this case. The contractors have claimed in their defense that they loaded the garbage in the vehicles as per the work order and took it to the dumping site. EOW's investigation is going on and now further action will be decided on the basis of evidence.
