CPI (ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on thursday (03 April) alleged that JDU and tdp, allies of the ruling nda at the Center, worked together with the bjp on the Waqf Amendment Bill. Alleged that the controversial bill is a big blow to the identity, religious freedom and cultural autonomy of the Muslim community.
'Parties like JDU and tdp are involved in the conspiracy'
Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill was passed in the lok sabha after a 12-hour long debate. He told 'PTI-Bhasha' over the phone, "The rights of minorities are at the center of Ambedkar's idea of a democratic republic. Parties like JDU and tdp are actually involved in this anti-constitutional conspiracy, who have collaborated with the bjp in the attack on minority rights. They have been exposed and will be held accountable by the people." Further, it said, "The bjp, which does not have a majority in the lok sabha, is dependent on the support of the JDU led by bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar and the tdp led by andhra pradesh Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to remain in power.
The Waqf Board deals with almost the entire range of Muslim charitable lands and religious and cultural institutions. After the amendment, all such lands and institutions will need to be registered and every dispute or case will be decided by the representatives of the state." On the other hand, it alleged that the narendra modi government keeps finding one issue after another to target Muslims and in the process destroys the Constitution as well as weakens the republic. The citizenship amendment act (CAA) has isolated Muslims in the matter of citizenship, which is a violation of the constitutional principle of not discriminating on the basis of religion.
