NCP demanded from amit shah to change the name…?

Nationalist congress Party state president sunil Tatkare met Union home minister amit shah on friday (April 4). During this, he has demanded that the name of 'Ghavrekond' village in Mahad taluka of Raigad district be changed to 'Shriram Nagar'. He said that its name should be changed considering the sentiments of the villagers.

Regarding this, sunil Tatkare wrote on his X handle, "Today I have given a letter to home minister amit shah regarding the proposal of the maharashtra government to change the name of 'Ghavrekond' village located in Mahad taluka of Raigad district, my lok sabha constituency, to 'Shriram Nagar'. I have told amit shah that the state government has carefully considered the proposal and have demanded that this name change be approved keeping in mind the local pride and linguistic sentiments of the villagers, as well as in the perspective of meeting the expectations of the local people."

He further wrote, "There is no other village named 'Shriram Nagar' in Raigad district or its surrounding areas. Apart from this, no objection has been raised by the villagers on this name change. Keeping in mind the strong sentiments of the local people, I also fully support this demand of the villagers and humbly request the Union home Ministry to take a positive decision in this regard and direct the concerned officials to take necessary action."
