These districts of bihar will soon get air service!

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has accepted the state government's request for the development of several new airports under the Udan scheme in Bihar. The Project Evaluation Committee (PEC) of the ministry has recommended the release of Rs 25 crore each for the establishment or development of six small airports in the state in the first phase.

Rs 40 crore approved for Purnia airport

Apart from this, approval has also been given to release Rs 40 crore for the development of Purnia airport. In this way, a total of Rs 190 crore has been approved for the establishment or development of seven new airports under the Udan scheme in the state.

Janata Dal United (JDU) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha said that in the recent PEC meeting chaired by the secretary of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, the six cities of bihar in which Rs 25 crore each was approved for the development of airports include Madhubani, Veerpur (Supaul), Saharsa, Munger, muzaffarpur and Valmiki Nagar.

He said that during his 'Pragati Yatra' in January-February this year, chief minister Nitish Kumar had instructed the state government officials to take necessary steps to establish small airports in these cities under the Udan scheme.

MP Jha wrote on the social media platform X, "Earlier, the chief minister had said in a meeting with senior officials of the state government and officials of the airport Authority of india (AAI) that an airport should be arranged within a maximum distance of 200 kilometers from any part of the state, so that the common people can have the convenience of air travel and the products of the farmers and entrepreneurs of the state can reach other parts of the country and abroad easily." In the PEC meeting, the AAI official informed that under the UDAN scheme, the work of development of the airport in Purnia, bihar has been started and the work of construction of the terminal building has been allotted on 20 february 2025. It has been recommended to release Rs 40 crore for Purnia Airport.
