Phone found with former mla lodged in jail, warden suspended…

The head warden of the jail was suspended after a mobile phone was recovered from former mla Shahnawaz Rana, lodged in muzaffarnagar district jail in Uttar Pradesh. A senior official gave this information on Sunday.

The official said that departmental action has been initiated against four jail guards in this regard. Jail Superintendent abhishek Chaudhary, confirming the disciplinary action, said that the investigation has revealed negligence on the part of these jail employees.

Internal investigation started after the incident

He said that after the incident of mobile phone recovery from Rana on march 26, an internal investigation was started and a police case was registered against the former MLA. Jail Superintendent Chaudhary said that during the investigation, 'Head Warden' ram Swaroop and four jail guards were found to be negligent during duty in the district jail.

He said that Swaroop has been suspended while an investigation has been started against the jail guards. Meanwhile, Shahnawaz Rana was transferred to Chitrakoot district jail on saturday night.

Jail Superintendent Chaudhary confirmed the transfer on the instructions of the state government. Shahnawaz Rana was arrested on december 5, 2024 for obstructing the work of GST (Goods and services Tax) officials during a raid at a steel factory.
