The risk of a major battle starting between Yemen's Houthi rebels and saudi arabia is increasing. The Houthis have directly threatened saudi arabia not to attack them along with America. They have also said that if saudi arabia does so, they will attack its oil bases. On april 9, Yemen's Shia extremist Houthi group warned saudi arabia not to take part in the US-led attacks. They first shared pictures of previous attacks on Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia's largest oil company) on social media to warn Saudi Arabia.
The Houthi army said in a post on X, "Saudi Arabia and America are preparing to attack yemen together, which is in the interest of Israel." They warned saudi arabia, writing, "Don't get involved in this or else your oil will not be saved." The post further said, "If saudi arabia attacks, we will fill its sky with fire and the whole world will see this sight."
There have been fights between saudi arabia and the Houthis before
Saudi Arabia has already fought with Houthi rebels in yemen for about ten years, but it could not completely stop this Shia group. When the Houthis captured Sanaa, the capital of yemen, saudi arabia tried to get itself out of this war.
Meanwhile, on 7 october 2023, Hamas attacked Israel. In response, israel launched a major military operation in Gaza, due to which the ongoing peace talks between saudi arabia and the Houthis were halted.
America's campaign in Yemen
After the Israeli attacks, Yemen's Houthi rebels, supporting Palestine, started attacking ships passing through the red Sea. This route is very important for world trade. In view of this danger, the US and its allies in the West launched a military operation against the Houthis to keep this sea route safe. On march 15, US President donald trump announced that action would be intensified in yemen to eliminate the power of the Houthis. After this, the US army is continuously attacking Houthi bases.
