Early morning raid, fun 'item' found, shocked to hear the price!
DRI mumbai and its local units have busted a secret mephedrone factory in Latur, Maharashtra. Based on special intelligence, it was found that a syndicate was manufacturing mephedrone in a secret factory in the remote hilly area of Rohina village in Latur. After this, DRI officials started surveillance in the area. In the early hours of april 8, DRI officials raided that secret factory.
A total of 11.36 kg of mephedrone (8.44 kg dry and 2.92 kg in liquid form) was recovered during the raid. Apart from this, a large amount of raw material and fully equipped lab equipment were also seized.
7 people including a police constable arrested
Five people involved in the manufacture of mephedrone in this secret factory were arrested, including a police constable. In the subsequent action, the distributor and financier associated with this syndicate were also arrested in Mumbai.
Action taken under NDPS Act
All the seven accused have accepted their role in financing, manufacturing and smuggling of mephedrone. Along with the arrest, 11.36 kg of mephedrone, which is worth about Rs 17 crore in the illegal market, raw material and lab equipment have been seized. Action has been taken against all the accused under the NDPS Act, 1985.
