Recognizing the immense potential of these architectural marvels, the Chief Secretary called for immediate promotion of them as major tourist destinations. He emphasized that both the sites deserve to be integrated into the wider tourism circuit of the region due to their engineering brilliance and beautiful location.
Emphasis on promoting tourism
Highlighting the proximity of these sites to the holy shrine of Mata vaishno devi, the Chief Secretary advised that pilgrims visiting vaishno devi should also be encouraged to visit Anji Khad and Chenab rail Bridge.
It is also worth noting that these bridges are located close to the Mata vaishno devi temple, which is the destination of millions of devotees every year. In such a situation, if these pilgrims are encouraged to visit these bridges, it will not only enrich their travel experience but will also give diversity and sustainability to regional tourism.
Need for informative signage and display boards
In a conversation with the district administration, he directed the development of necessary infrastructure and tourist amenities around these sites. This includes rest places, guided tours, food stalls, toilets and other necessary facilities. He also stressed the need to install informative signage and display boards at the sites. He said that these boards should highlight the unique technical and structural features of these bridges.
He said that by doing so, the visitors will not only get an idea of the engineering prowess behind these projects but will also develop a sense of national pride and appreciation for the infrastructure advancements being made across the country. The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; DC, Reasi; SSP, Reasi; senior officers of Northern Railway and other local officials of the civil administration and police department.
