More than 32,000 government posts are vacant in J&K!

According to the latest figures, more than 32,000 government posts in the state are lying vacant for years, while lakhs of youth are wandering in search of jobs.


In response to a question by cpi (M) mla Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami in the kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir Assembly, chief minister omar abdullah revealed that a total of 32,474 posts are vacant in the state. These include 2,503 gazetted, 19,214 non-gazetted and 10,757 multi-tasking (class-IV) posts. These figures not only point towards the increasing unemployment in the state, but also raise questions on the slow recruitment process of the government system.


The health and Medical education Department has the highest number of vacancies at 7,851, while the Public Works Department has 3,759 and Animal Husbandry Department has 2,589 vacancies. Similarly, thousands of posts are lying vacant in other departments like industry and Commerce, Housing, Agriculture, Electricity, Food, Finance and Education. Interestingly, the Disaster Management Department is the only one where no post is vacant.


What did the cm say?


CM omar abdullah said that in the last 10 years (2015-2024), 54,540 posts were sent to JKSSB, out of which 49,564 have been selected. At the same time, out of the 10,762 posts sent to JKPSC, 9,080 have been filled. But despite this, many posts are still awaiting approval or referral. The government has also shown seriousness on the regularization of more than 60,000 daily wage, seasonal and casual laborers. A high-level committee has been formed on this issue under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, which will submit its report in six months.
