India will shine in the US-China trade war!

apple has made record-breaking iPhones in india in the last one year (between march 2024 and march 2025). According to a Bloomberg report, apple has produced iPhones worth $22 billion (about Rs 1.83 lakh crore) in India. This is 60 percent more than last year. This means that one out of every five iPhones sold worldwide is now made in India. Till a few years ago this figure was almost zero.

Where are the iphone factories?

iPhones are being manufactured mainly in factories in tamil Nadu and Karnataka. These factories are run by Foxconn, Tata Electronics and Pegatron. iphone exports from india have also increased rapidly. According to IT minister Ashwini Vaishnav, india exported iPhones worth $17.4 billion last year.

Why did apple move from china to India?

apple has taken this step to reduce its dependence on China. The COVID lockdown, trade tensions between china and the US, and US tariffs forced apple to change its strategy. When the US imposed heavy tariffs on electronic goods coming from china (up to 145 per cent on iPhones), apple started sending iPhones directly to the US from India.

india is now a manufacturing hub

apple is now assembling all its models, even the premium Titanium Pro models, in India. According to a Bloomberg report, apple has sales of $8 billion in india in 2024, while its market share is just 8 per cent. That is, even though Apple's sales share is low, the demand for iPhones in india is constantly increasing.
