'The ball is in China's court', Trump's statement on tariff war?
There is tension between America and china regarding tariff. Both countries are adamant on their respective positions and no one is ready to back down. Meanwhile, US President donald trump has said that if there is to be any talks on tariff, then china will have to initiate it. trump said in his statement, "China has to decide when and how the talks will take place. It is not necessary for us to make any deal with them, but they will have to make a deal with us. There is a difference between china and other countries."
Caroline Levitt issued a statement
White house Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said in a media briefing, "The President has made his point very clear about china and he has just shared another statement with me in the Oval Office, which I want to tell."
Levitt said, "Now the ball is in China's court. china needs to compromise with America. We don't need to compromise with them. There is no difference between china and other countries, except that they (China) are much bigger."
Referring to trump, he further said that china and other countries want the same thing that America has - American customers. In simple words, "they need our money." Levitt said, "The President has therefore made it clear once again that he is ready to compromise with china, but in reality China will have to compromise with America."
President Xi jinping had said this in his statement
Chinese President Xi jinping had reacted for the first time on the ongoing trade war with America. He clearly said that china is not going to be afraid of anyone. During a meeting with Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing, jinping said, "No one can win in this trade war. If you go against the world, you will get isolated yourself." He also said that in the last 70 years, china has progressed through its hard work and it is not going to bow down to anyone's pressure.
Jinping appealed to the european union (EU) to come together against this unilateral pressure policy of America. He said that china and europe should fulfill their international responsibilities together and respond to this bullying of America together.
