The Rouse Avenue court has extended the stay on the investigation into the alleged role of Law minister Kapil Mishra in the North-East delhi riots in the year 2020 till May 7. Special Judge kaveri Baveja passed this order. The court was informed that the notices issued to some respondents on april 9 have not been served yet. Due to this, the court has fixed May 7 as the date for the next hearing of the case.

In fact, on april 9, Special Judge kaveri Baveja in Rouse Avenue court, while hearing Kapil Mishra's petition, stayed the investigation till april 21. This petition was filed by Mishra challenging the order of a magistrate court.

'Cognizable offence is made at first sight'

Senior advocate P.K. Dubey argued on behalf of Kapil Mishra in the case, while Special Public Prosecutor amit prasad argued on behalf of delhi Police. Earlier on april 1, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaureshia had said that prima facie a cognizable offence is made out against Kapil Mishra and the matter requires further investigation.

This case is related to the petition filed by yamuna Vihar resident Mohammad Ilyas in which an FIR was demanded against Mishra. However, delhi police opposed this petition and claimed that Kapil Mishra had no role in the riots.
