Actually, the mayoral election was to be held in delhi on 25 April, but the aam aadmi party (AAP) announced not to contest this election, after which the bjp has won unopposed. monday (21 April) was the last day to file nomination for the mayoral election candidate, but on this day the leaders of the aam aadmi party announced that this time no candidate will be fielded from their side. Through a press conference, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi made several allegations against the BJP.

AAP made several allegations against BJP

AAP leaders said that the bjp had stopped the MCD elections earlier as well. During delimitation, the wards were shifted around. AAP claims that due to this, tremendous irregularities and corruption were done. Despite this, bjp lost the election and the AAP government was formed. Even after this, bjp councillors created a lot of drama in the MCD meetings, after which AAP has decided that this time it will not field its candidate in the mayor elections.

'BJP did not allow elections to be held due to fear of losing'

Saurabh Bhardwaj said in the press conference, "We have been seeing BJP's desperation for power in delhi for many years. On march 9, 2022, the election commission said that MCD elections will be announced at 5.00 pm. Before this announcement, the central government and the Lieutenant governor stopped the press conference of the State election commission and said that elections should not be held now. bjp decided to do delimitation and will hold elections after 18 months. At that time bjp was going to lose badly in MCD because people were going to vote for AAP. So it was postponed." Saurabh Bhardwaj further said, "Then elections were held on 4 December. During delimitation, every ward was prepared for BJP. The ward where people were against bjp was removed and shifted to another place. During delimitation in every assembly, all the strongholds of aam aadmi party were combined to form one ward, so that all the voters of AAP remain in one ward. Small wards of bjp voters were separated so that bjp gets votes from more wards in the count."
