The source of samkalpa [resolve with desire] is "kamana" [want, drivingdesire, lust] -- reversing that is "kama na" [no "kama"] - meaning: if there is nodesire, how can there be samkalpa for the future? Yajna and such arepossible through samkalpa; vows, rules and practices, yajna - all have comeabout from samkalpa.
The root of all dharma is Veda - meaning Kriya, via which all can beknown. Know -- "smriti" - meaning "smarana" [contemplation, remembrance];the "sheela" [nature, properties] of all phenomenal things - meaning: thirteenqualities prevalent - meaning:
1) the aspects of being a brahmin, 2) devotion todivine parentage, 3) calmness, 4) not pressuring others, 5) being withoutattachment; "abhihita" - meaning: taking up the good, 6) gentleness, 7)friendliness, 8) loving, 9) gratitude, 10) remembrance, contemplation, 11)compassion, 12) deep peacefulness, 13) nature of things
All of these can be known; continuing with the performance of Kriya and the cultivation of character, later, sadhus become fulfilled in the Self. yah kaschit kasyachiddharmo manuna parikirtitah sa sarvohbhihito vedesarvajnanamayo hi sah
