Ahead of Vinayaka Chaturthi, the work of making Vinayaka idols in different colors is going on in full swing in the mayiladuthurai district. Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the major festivals of Hindus, will be celebrated across the country on september 7 (Saturday). In the mayiladuthurai district, the work of making Vinayaka idols in different colors is going on in full swing.

The idol maker said, “ As per the orders of the pollution Control Board,  Ganesha is immersed in sea, river, pond, and pond naturally so that there is no harm to the public and fish. They are making Ganesha idols using paper pulp, tapioca pulp, lime powder, coconut fiber, casuarina, and bamboo sticks, which are easily soluble in water bodies. Artisans are now engaged in watercolouring these idols. Vinayaka idols ranging from 1 feet to 12 feet are being made.

Karpaga Vinayaka, Rat Vinayaka, 5-headed lion Vinayaka, 5-headed naga Vinayaka, tiger Vinayaka, Nandi Vinayaka, Vinayaka riding on peacock, Parvathi, Paramasiva Vinayaka, Linga Vinayaka, Nandi Vinayaka, Umapathi Vinayaka, Horse Vinayaka, Shobha Vinayaka, Procession Vinayaka, and bombay Vinayaka are now ready to sell. The idols are being sold for Rs 15,000 to Rs 45,000  and will also make audible images for customers.
