Relation between ghee and heart disease

Ghee contains about 47.8% saturated fat. Some people are concerned that eating ghee can increase the risk of heart disease. This is because ghee contains more saturated fat, which can increase cholesterol. The American heart Association says that to reduce the risk of heart disease, one should eat less saturated fat.

In one experiment, when rats were fed a diet containing 5% or 10% ghee for 2 weeks to 2 months, their blood cholesterol and triglyceride did not increase. But when a specific type of rats were fed a diet containing 10% ghee for 2 months, their blood cholesterol and triglyceride increased.

Many studies have shown the benefits of ghee and ghee-containing herbs. Animal studies have found that blood cholesterol, LDL, VLDL and triglyceride decreased. cholesterol and triglyceride decreased in the liver. Lipid peroxidation in the liver decreased. Similar results were obtained with heated ghee.
